Meet Our MoMBA Mentors

Kathleen Baker, P.Eng. 

Kathleen is a chemical engineer who graduated with her undergraduate degree from the University of Alberta in 2012. In 2019, she completed her masters degree in Engineering Safety and Risk Management also from the University of Alberta. She is a chemical engineer in the downstream oil and gas industry and a mom of a baby boy. She enjoys walking and biking in the river valley, cross country skiing, hiking, backcountry camping, spending time with my extended family, travelling and taking swimming lessons with her son. Her core values are family, respect, health, friendship and wisdom. Her core desired feelings are unrushed, connection, presence and joy.

Megan Sutton, P.Eng.

Megan is a mother of two and a Professional Engineer with a B.Sc. in Materials Engineering and an M.Eng. in Engineering Management. She has over 15 years of experience in consulting engineering.

Her technical experience includes failure analysis and failure investigations, materials testing and examination, instructing technical seminars related to Codes and standards, quality and integrity management, compliance and regulatory consulting and auditing.

Megan is passionate about inspiring more women and mothers to choose and then thrive in STEM careers. Megan is also married to another Materials Engineer. With the kids, they enjoy having fun together, spending time at the lake, and swimming.

Megan's top personal value is inner harmony because she believes that we must take care of ourselves first in order to take care of everyone around us while also pursuing our goals. A few fun facts: Megan loves to read and usually has several books in progress at any given time (physical, e-book and audio). She is also a dancer, and spent many years teaching various styles of dance to ages 3 to adult. Megan loves to travel and is a Disney fan (her favourite character is Maleficent, and her favourite ride is the Haunted Mansion). She has a magic wand at her desks both at work and home because she believes a little magic can help her with ideas and finding solutions - plus the wands make great fidget toys!

Amanda Robertson, P.Eng.

Amanda Robertson is a professional engineer, and University of Alberta alumni in Electrical Engineering with distinction. In her 12 years of experience at ATCO Electric, Amanda has had the opportunity to lead diverse teams to tackle challenging interconnection and substation projects that accelerate the growth of solar and renewables to the power grid including the largest urban solar farms within the City of Calgary. She also has experience as a solar and renewables designer, worked on the converter stations for the Eastern Alberta Transmission Line 500 kV HVDC project and has experience in distribution and transmission power system planning.

Sarah Hrynew, P.Eng.

Sarah is a mechanical engineer who graduated from university of Alberta in 2013. She has worked for a large energy company for 10+ years in various maintenance and reliability roles, and she is a mom of two young kids. She enjoys spending time in the river valley walking her dog, biking or cross country skiing, she is also an avid reader and loves learning new things through reading. Her core values are Family, Health, Friendship, Kindness and Accountability. Her core desired feelings are Connection, Curiosity, Joy and Peace.

 

Sarah can help you with:

  • Reducing overwhelm as a family with two demanding careers
  • Defining what being a ’good mom’ is on your own terms not absorbing societies expectations 
  • Taking control of your time so there is always time for what is important

Alisha Guenther, P.Eng.

(limited availability until Nov. 2025 due to managing outages)

 

Alisha manages power outages as a senior mechanical engineer. She can be on site for long stretches of time, travelling regularly and managing teams of people. "It’s a big responsibility. It’s exciting, but it also means I can be away from my child for weeks on end."

 

Alisha can help you with:

Colleen Lenahan

Originally from the east coast of Canada, Colleen joined Shell in 2004 as an Upstream Production Engineer after completing degrees in geology and geological engineering from the University of New Brunswick. After joining Shell in Canada, Colleen held various technical, business, and leadership roles in Canada and overseas before moving on to her next challenge. To every role, Colleen brings a keen interest to learn, a pragmatic approach to problem solving, and a supportive, intent-based leadership style.

Colleen believes strongly in working together to drive social, economic and environmental sustainability for both business and local communities. She is passionate about building inclusive teams and helping team members develop and grow their skills through opportunities near and far.

In this pivotal moment in history as the world transforms its energy sources, Colleen believes it’s both a great privilege and a great responsibility to be a part of the energy transformation - one which will require the use of everyone’s collective skills, experience, and perspectives. Colleen is deeply committed to contributing to the development and delivery of low-carbon energy solutions, playing her part in creating a sustainable future.

On a personal note, Colleen is married to Alex and has a son named Felix. Their family enjoys outdoor adventures, which allow them to explore the natural world that Colleen is so passionate about preserving.
